Does This Rock Formation Look Like a Camel?

Camel Rock is found along side the U.S. 285 north of Santa Fe on Tesuque Pueblo. Lots of people have taken photos of the rock formation. Many years ago, you could climb around on the rock. The Pueblo closed the rock to climbing due to tourist cause erosion.

Rocket Park

The 20 acre Piñon Park in White Rock is also called Rocket Park. The park use to have a much larger "rocket" you could climb up to the nose cone and slide down. Deemed unsafe, it was taken down and this is the only rocket left. [Note: The park sign should read Piñon Park; pronounced Pinion, NOT Pin-on]. A pet peeve of mine.]

Yes, Los Alamos Has A Starbucks

Los Alamos has only one Starbucks and it's always crowded. During warmer weather, outside tables are packed. Even when snow is present, if the sun is shining there may be some one sitting outside.

Ice Cream In Winter?

With warmer weather, lots of people will visit Daniel's Cafe for ice cream. But, they also sell breakfast burritos, other breakfast items, and sandwiches. So, it's busy on the coldest days as well. And, ice cream seems to sell in any weather.

Valle Grande Winter

Valle Grande or Valle Caldera in the winter. Here's a link to a YouTube video of the Valle (with dramatic music) that somebody posted (about 10 minutes long). Took this picture the same day I took the elk pictures which are feeding just off to the right edge of this view feeding on the exposed brown grasses.

Ashley Pond Fountain Freezes

County crews carefully pushed canoes on ice on Ashley Pond to work on the fountain to keep the ducks and geese happy after several days of below 0 temperatures (today was a balmy 30).  And check out the man and his friend on the banks -see below. (This map link of pond area is out of date and buildings to west of the pond are gone or significantly changed.)
