Another Interesting House in La Senda in White Rock

I don't know much about this house nor who live in it. But sure is interesting. Notice the dry grasses and sage in the foreground. Drought is a big problem in New Mexico for several years. Drought information link. [Los Alamos County is the smallest county in the state. In this map, it's the small "boot" shaped county in the north central part of New Mexico.]

Watch Your Step

Get off the trails and you will many "pods" of Prickly Pear Cactus waiting to greet you. When they are in bloom, I'll post another photo. They are also edible. Prickly Pear jelly is not bad. Prickly Pear/Green Chile jelly is even better.

Latrodectus hesperus

I'll try and get a better picture of my friend the Black Widow Spider They like to take up residence in homes, garages, and sheds around here. This one is in our sun room :-) You DON'T want one to bite you and we'll have to get rid of this spider (I try not to kill others). They are, however, amazingly beautiful in their own way and deserves a better picture.

Land Of Enchantment Fills The Air.

New Mexico's nickname is Land of Enchatment. Sometimes, especially in the spring, 40-60 mile per hour winds stir up the "enchantment" (as it has for a couple of days) and it fills the air blocking out the view of the Sangre de Christos. (Other shots of the Sangres) (The picture does not do justice to the large amount of "enchantment" in the air.)
