New Municipal Building Foundation

The previous municipal building was built in a hurry by federal government in the 60s I think. It's foundation proved unstable and the two story building was condemned.Currently the county government is scattered around town in portable structures. (Los Alamos is a Home Rule county. City and county are one.) Hopefully, this new foundation is much much more stable.

  1. Boy, Larry, the 1960s sure aren't going to go down in history for sound building practices, are they? And it doesn't look like the architecture is any great shakes if the concrete caves yesterday are any measure.

  2. very solid "concrete caves" are government issue. When we moved to Los Alamos in '74 they were still issuing CD bomb shelter assignments in the "cave" basements.
