What's Wrong With This Monument

This stone marks the End of the Santa Fe Trail, 1822-1879. Erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Territory of New Mexico, 1910. However, this monument to the Santa Fe Trail in the Santa Fe Plaza has a problem. Do you see it?

  1. Well. Since New Mexico became a state after 1910 (in 1912) I thought maybe that was why the Colorado and Kansas border was a bit to the left of where it should be. Maybe they ran out of room on the rock :)

  2. Cathy got it. The Colorado border was already established and was much further to the east of the NM-OK border. In other words, they made a second "four corners" which didn't exist.
