Egret Sighted In Ashly Pond

Much discussion online whether this is a Snowy Egret or Great Egret. Black legs and yellow bill is a give away. (Although some saw yellow feet which might change the ID). This Great Egret showed up in Ashley Pond after all the wind and snow the past few days. Sighting caused much bird watching stir. Good thing the gators are gone.

Wind, Snow, and Sun. Springtime In Northern NM

Early morning showed snow on Jemez Mountains above Los Alamos. Melted by later in the AM. Today was a reprieve from the winds of yesterday. However, the wind gets its revenge tomorrow according to the weather forecasts.

Metzger's has three locations in Los Alamos. Above is the largest store found downtown Los Alamos. There's another store in White Rock. The third store is a gas/auto repair station in Los Alamos. Metzger's has been a fixture in Los Alamos since 1947. (This building use to be a Safeway grocery story once upon a time.)

Proof of Global Warming From Los Alamos.

Sudden climate shift caused changes to Ashley Pond due to rapid global warming according to LANL scientists. Yes, this is Ashley Pond in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Amazing!! Check out the before picture taken in Jan of this year. Obviously this was NOT good news for for the pond ducks and geese. Los Alamos County Officials and LANL scientists had to scramble to construct barriers to protect the shocked citizens of Los Alamos. One local land owner built these viewing platforms which will be free to the public every 6th Tuesday of the month but you must sign a waiver and promise not to venture too close to the gators.
